when sending an email I can not get the list of the addresses?

I would like to create and send an email to my some of my contacts but when I click on the "to" field a pop up comes up that is asking me select one address and if I want more than one I have to hit the shift key. This doesn't allow me to select different people that aren't one after the other.

    In New Y! Mail, click on the Contacts folder. Along the top are some options that appear. Click (Add list), give it a name and add contacts to it - limit of contacts/list is 20. Type the list name in the To: box.

    In Mail Classic, hit the contacts tab - add Group - limit of contacts/Group is 20. Type the Group name in the To: box.

    When im sending a email how can i get the address on my email to send it to the person
