How do I create an email account for free, that will hide my name?

I want to join a yahoo group but I do not want my name to be shown or my email address. The list owner told me that I need to have that hidden. I have an sbcglobal email address. I also have a gmail account. Can anyone explain to me how to do this? Thank you! I guess they want identity hidden because it is talking about abusive spouses.
